Silence

Amidst the rustling leaves,

The shrieking wind,

The howls and cries of creatures benign,

The thunder, the lightening;

Amidst the ineffable mourning

Emanating from the Earth itself

For loss of love and life;

Amidst the crass cacophony

That seems to engulf the world

And our very spirit;

Yes, amidst everything,

There exists some solace

Manifesting itself in our souls

In the form of tender silence,

An undefined yet definite shape,

Unattainable for some who are

At constant war with themselves,

But a beautiful shape nonetheless.

A reminder of our innate goodness,

Of the fact that perhaps,

We will learn someday

To live in peace

With ourselves and the world.
